De zomer is de tijd van de prijzen in de boekenwereld. In juli worden de Shirley Jackson Awards uitgereikt aan boeken binnen de gothic fiction, het speculatieve- en suspensegenre. Eerder schreven we een artikel over wie Shirley Jackson is en wat precies de prijs inhoudt.

Een van de genomineerde auteurs Kaaron Warren had niet verwacht genomineerd te zijn en schreef op Twitter erover: "I'm Shocked".

Shirley Jackson Awards

De Shirley Jackson Awards worden sinds 2007 elk jaar uitgegeven aan de beste fictie in psychologische suspense, horror en dark fantasy. De jury bestaat uit boekcritici, schrijvers, uitgevers en editors onder toezicht van een Board of Commission. De eerste jury bestond uit John Langan, Sarah Langan, Paul G. Tremblay en  F. Brett Cox.  De Awards worden elk jaar uitgereikt in juli op de Readercon conferentie over verbeeldingsliteratuur.
