Jesse Bering is filosoof, auteur en schrijft regelmatig stukken voor Scientific American,  Slate, New York magazine, The Guardian, and The New Republic. Eerder publiceerde hij The Belief Instinct. Bering is voormalig directeur van the Institute of Cognition and Culture at the Queen’s University en begon zijn carrière als professor aan de University of Arkansas.
