Instructive

Very instructive, well written, but a very dry account of the recent history of African kingdoms across the continent. Interesting to learn that actually, before colonisation, many kings were elected according to strict rules, and systems were in place to prevent the formation of dynasties. And in many cases, women played quite an important role in supporting the kings.
