Didn’t Expect That Ending… At All

Metal Slinger was such a solid read. From the very first chapters, I instantly thought, I’ve really missed romantasy. The worldbuilding, the magic, and those strong, attractive MMCs who are tall and muscular — I was all in. And Acker definitely fits that description.

I also really liked the female main character, Jovie. It was so refreshing to see a heroine who isn’t a damsel in distress.

The story started off strong and had me hooked right away, curious to see where it would go. The middle part, though, lost a bit of that spark for me. The tension dropped, and Acker suddenly seemed a lot softer than he was in the beginning, which made it harder to stay fully engaged. I mostly kept reading because I wanted to know what the big twist would be at the end.

And then that ending… wow. It completely blew my mind. I went through every emotion — sadness, irritation, hope and anger. Without giving anything away, it was such a surprising and emotional conclusion that I absolutely have to read book two. Too bad we’ll have to wait until next year for it!
