Beautiful cover and layout but full of most and lacking facts.

Jeanine1984 24 november 2024
The layout and cover are beautiful, but this book is full of mistakes and lacking a lot of things too! I didn't even write them all down, but just the biggest mistakes:

In the chapter about the secrets, the author wrote: "Monica and Chandler are living together before marriage." But the author added the "before marriage" herself. On the show, they don't say that. That wasn't the point either because her parents don't care about that. The point was they didn't know about the serious relationship at all.

The author writes that the Christmas gifts from Joey and Chandler are "apparently" stolen, which she totally made up herself. Nothing in that scene implies that!

In the chapter about the quotable quotes, the author writes about the plan Phoebe and Rachel have "for getting Monica and Chandler to confess to being in love", but the confession they wanted was that they're sleeping together. The big surprise in that episode is that Chandler says he also loves Monica. Even Monica acted surprised and then says she loves him too.

It's weird that on the 2 pages about Mr. Heckles (nor in the rest of the book) there is no picture of him. Same thing with Janice. It appears that the author chose to only put pictures from the Friends gang and Gunther in the book, but still if you dedicate 2 pages on 1 person, it's weird to me not to also put a picture of that person in it.

I do like the list of memorable items in the apartments and other places. The author clearly put a lot of work and effort into that, and while rewatching the show, I try to see all of these things now.

The author writes that there were "painful results" after ill Monica and Chandler sleep together after she rubs herself with vapor rub. Which is nonsens; they came out of the bedroom happy, and Chandler even walks funny from "having vapo rub in some places."

On the page about classes the friends took or taught, the author mentions nothing about Ross teaching classes.

The author writes that "the London wedding is called off because Ross says Rachel's name" which is again pure fantasy from the author because even though he said Rachel's name, the wedding kept going and Ross and Emily get married. Only afterward Emily doesn't want to be with Ross, even though she's his wife. Later, Ross even painfully jokes to Rachel that he doesn't know where his own wife is.

The author writes that Phoebe wasn't in love with David when he wanted to propose to her in Barbados. That's not true. That's why she first said she wasn't seeing anyone (even though she had a pretty serious relationship with Mike) when he came back. Phoebe never fell out of love with David in all these years, but obviously, she had to choose between him and Mike (she loves them both), and eventually, she chose Mike.

The author calls Monica's former cat just Fluffy. That's the cat's short name, which Ross calls him. But Monica says he has to call him by his actual full name: Fluffy Meowington.

The author writes that Joey's new chick gets stuck inside the Foosball table. Actually, both the new baby chick and baby duck get stuck in there during the final episode.

The game Mad Libs wasn't just in Malcolm's stalker bag and in "The one with the Kips", it was also under Monica's bed (where Joey put it) for when the friends would get stuck there again during a Ross and Rachel fight in the living room. Phoebe claims it to be hers right away.

The author lists 71 movies, tv shows, and ads named in Friends while movies alone mentioned/watched in Friends are already 102! (To much to write down here).

Joey doesn't offer Rachel to watch Cujo with her, Rachel practically begs him for that.

Chandler doesn't want to hire the Swing Kings to play at his wedding because he heard them in a Gap commercial, he wants them because when he and Monica danced to their music, he realized he wants to dance all of his dances the rest of his life with Monica! (Huge mistake Michelle Morgan!)

In the part about songs, the author forgets to write about the songs Monica has to dance to on the bar at the Moondance diner.

On "all the books and magazines mentioned in the series," these titles are missing:

1. "A tale of two cities" from Charles Dickens in "The one with all the jealousy."
2. "The flowers of evil" from Charles Baudaire, also in "The one with all the jealousy."
3. "One hundred years of solitude" from Gabriel Garcia Marquez in "The one with the jam" and also in another episode Chandler is seen reading it.
4. "On the origin of species" from Charles Darwin (I don't remember which episode).
5. "Pinocchio" from Carlo Collodi (I don't remember which episode).
6. "Romeo and Juliet" from William Shakespeare in "The one with the screamer."
7. "Lord of the rings" from J.R.R. Tolkien in "The on where they are going to party".
8. "Narnia" from C.S. Lewis in "The one with Phoebe's husband."
9. "The silence of the lambs" from Thomas Harris in "The one with George Stephanopolous" (but that was about the movie, actually).
10. "The Hobbit" from J.R.R. Tolkien (I don't remember which episode).
11. "Race" from Studs Terkel (Ross is reading it in an episode, don't remember which one).
12. "Jack and the beanstalk" from Steven Kellogg in "The one with George Stephanopolous."
13. "The unbearable lightness of being" from Milan Kundera in "The one with all the poker."
14. "The firm" from John Grisham in "The one with the late Thanksgiving."
15. "1984" from George Orwell in "The one that could have been."
16. "Flowers of Algernon" from Daniel Keyes in "The one with all the haste."
17. "Of mice and men" from John Steinbeck in "The one with a chick and a duck."
18. "The little engine that could" from Watty Piper" in "The one after the Superbowl.
19. "T-Rex and the crater of doom" from Walter Alvarez in "The one with the cooking class."
20. " 'Twas the night before Christmas' from Clement C. Clark in "The one with Christmas in Tulsa."
21. "Magic eye 3D" from N.E. Thing Enterprises in "The one with the butt."

The author writes about how Joey accidentally spoils some major plot points from "The shining," but she doesn't tell that after that, Rachel does on purpose the same to him about "Little women"

The author tells about Phoebe writing a book about Marcia and Chester (who are actually Monica and Chandler), but she forgets to mention that to take her back, Monica starts to write a book about Phillis (who is actually Phoebe).

After this, I stopped writing down the errors because it's simply too much!
