Yellowface
Well written story about a competitive world in which the girl (June) is longing for recognition and appreciation. For me the book is also about prejudice in the publishing industry and social media/ cancel culture.
“Keep your eyes on your own paper, they say. But that’s hard to do when everyone else’s papers are flapping constantly in your face.”
“Reading let us live in someone else’s shoes. Literature builds bridges, it makes our world larger, not smaller.”
I had fun reading this book, but I was not overwhelmed with it.
