1984: a world-famous science fiction story (Engesle review)

This was a really tough book to get through. Not because it was bad - let me be clear about that - but because there's just so much in it that I needed to process before reading the next bit of the book.

1984 is a novel that shows us a dystopia in which privacy and free will have stopped existing and where you can get sentenced to death for "thinking the wrong way".
Is this our reality? No. Is it a world we want to avoid? Yes, definitely. Will this be our future? I don't know, but that's not the point.

There's so much depth in this novel. It just reaches over 300 pages, but in them, Orwell manages to drag the reader along in this world and by the time we're finished reading, we understand this alternate reality, and however much I wanted 1984 to end differently, the ending we got fits the story perfectly and proves the point that's being made throughout the novel.

The worldbuilding in this novel is magnificent. Orwell included a 10-page appendix explaining the etymology and technicalities of Newspeak in a way that feels like it's real, and that goes for the rest of this science-fiction world as well.

As a fifteen-year-old who read this book for fun and without anyone pushing me to read this, I must say I enjoyed 1984 and that it's going to be one I'll recommend to people for a while.
This is a wild story, but it's definetely worth the time.
