Enjoyable read but didn't really have the "hots" for it!
The Cinnamon Bun Bookstore by Laurie Gilmore was a nice improvement over The Pumpkin Spice Café! Dream Harbor felt more fun this time around, and the bookstore setting added a warm, inviting touch with all its cinnamon bun goodness.
The romance between the main characters felt more engaging, with better chemistry and a more fun plot surrounding their relationship. It was sweet but didn’t take itself too seriously, which I appreciated. Plus, the storyline offered more variety and made Dream Harbor feel more alive and bustling, while still keeping those quirky, delightful side characters.
That said, I was a bit disappointed by the seasonal setting. The story takes place in the transition from summer to fall, so the autumn vibes weren’t as strong as I’d hoped. I went in expecting full-on cozy fall moments, but they just weren’t quite there. Still, the charming characters and inviting small-town atmosphere made up for it, even if I was left wanting a bit more autumn magic.
Overall, this was a more enjoyable read than The Pumpkin Spice Café, and I’m curious to see where the next book takes us in Dream Harbor!
