A Dowry of Blood
Blurb:
This is my last love letter to you, though some would call it a confession. . .
Saved from the brink of death by a mysterious stranger, Constanta is transformed from a medieval peasant into a bride fit for an undying king. But when Dracula draws a cunning aristocrat and a starving artist into his web of passion and deceit, Constanta realises that her beloved is capable of terrible things.
Finding comfort in the arms of her rival consorts, she begins to unravel their husband's dark secrets. With the lives of everyone she loves on the line, Constanta will have to choose between her own freedom and her love for her husband. But bonds forged by blood can only be broken by death.
My opinion:
I was in the mood for a good vampire book, but it was disappointing. I had no idea it was written in the second person point of view. After a while, I got used to it, but still, it felt strange. While I appreciated the dark, gothic atmosphere and the fresh take on the Dracula myth, the story felt a bit slow at times, and I struggled to connect with the characters. It’s a book that some readers will love for its poetic style and emotional depth, but for me, it just didn’t quite live up to its potential.
