Lezersrecensie
More YA than cosy fantasy
Christmas with the Elf King is advertised as a cosy fantasy, inspired by LOTR, but the story telling is more Young Adult. Young protagonists (17 and 22) in an enemy-to lovers style plot which has the celebration of Christmas as a lynchpin, although it is a completely secular world. The world building is sketchy, the magic system is convieniently fuzzy, and elves are descended from aliens (?!).
The author uses the premise that Christmas and Winter Solstice are two completely different things, but without any religion/church in the background, I can't see much of a difference.
It is enjoyable, but it is all very superficial.
