Twisted by Steve Cavanagh

TenDayBookclub 18 januari 2026
JT LeBeau is a wildly successful thriller author with incredible sales numbers, yet no one knows who he really is, despite countless attempts by the media, publishers, and others to uncover his identity. Famous and infamous for his killer plot twists, LeBeau thrives on mystery.
Maria believes she knows who LeBeau is (her husband!), but both she and the reader are warned. Before the story even begins, LeBeau wants you to know three things: the police want to charge him with murder, no one knows who he is or how he did it, and if you think you’ve figured out his identity, he will come after you. By the time you finish the book, one thing becomes clear: the truth is twisted.

My review:
I really enjoyed this book and rated it 4 out of 5 hearts . The story is built up very well and keeps you turning pages. The characterisation is strong and believable, but I never truly liked either of the main characters. They were interesting to follow, yet not the kind of characters I’ll miss now that the book is finished.

The police investigation is present, but it felt quite basic, especially considering how serious and obvious some of the crimes were. I would have loved those investigative parts to be explored in more depth.

That said, the plot twists were great. While parts of the story are predictable, the ending still worked really well for me. There could have been a more obvious route to take, but I genuinely liked the choice the author made.
Overall, I really liked this story. If the police investigation had been given a bit more room, this easily could have been a 5-heart read for me
