Miss Faith Lavender would not have cried at her own funeral. And indeed no one attending the service shed a tear - neither her two sisters, nor the handful of neighbors, nor the strange man in black boots holding the stolen snowdrops. Faith Lavender’s funeral and the arrival of a stranger upset the finely tuned balance of the little community. Undercurrents of fierce emotion, that until now have been suppressed, reach the surface while the tensions rise and the ladies of Haverstock find their actions motivated by mutual suspicion and fear.
