Land of the Living

Charlie's experiences at the Battle of Kohima and the months he spent lost in the remote jungles of Nagaland during the Second World War are now history. Settled on a farm in Norfolk with his wife Claire, he is one of the lucky survivors. But the foundations of his tentatively laid new life are threatened by the floods of memory; and on misty mornings working in the fields, Charlie finds himself transported back to the strange and shadowy ridges of the wooded mountains, and to the final, dark chapters of the nightmare of war to which he bore witness.
