Interesting
Enjoyable and interesting. I learned lots about cave people. Their deductions about life and the spirit world fascinated me. There are definitely issues with the writing. The repetitions were annoying, so much detail, and Ayla's thoughts sometimes had knowledge and vocabulary that she couldn't have had. Or maybe it wasn't Ayla speaking/thinking at those times, in which case it was just more confusing: are we still in Ayla's head when it's about hyperthermia and things like that?
Broud's character in particular was portrayed with too much repetition and it was a bit overdone how immature he was. I don't think it made sense that Brun didn't see Broud's lack of character, and still made him leader after all that happened.
I won't read the other books in this series because the reviews were pretty unanimous in stating it is only going downhill from here.
