Jim Dasher, leader of the secret service of the Kingdom, and secret leader of the Mockers of Krondor, hasn't heard of any of his agents in the south of Kesh. And Jimmy doesn't like that. As a sailor he ships himself to the south of Kesh to find out what is happening.

In the mean time Pug and the Conclave of Shadows are trying to pick up signs of demon presence. Which is hard to do as the conclave doesn't have a lot of manpower and Midkemia is a big planet to search for these signs. Also the demons know how to cover their track.

In the demon realm Child is born and is quickly growing to become ...

Sandreena, sergeant-knight adamant of the order of the shield, is in south Kesh and is confronted by the black caps, formerly knows as the Nighthawks, the assassins Guild.

Then anew invasion from Kesh start, but this time it is a weird invasion.

As with all of Feists fantasy books, a Kingdom Besieged is an easy book to read, even for a fantasy novell. I would recommend Feist for anyone who has never read a Fantasy novell in English. Feist knows how to start and finish trilogies, and seamlessly connect those together with an interesting overall arc. Feist has already finished (t)his 30 book series about Midkemia/Kelewan, from which this book is book 28.
