Tao is the teller of small fortunes. As a little kid she immigrated from Shinara to the kingdome of Eshtara. She travels around in her wagon with her donkey Laohu. At a certain point she meets the ex mercenary Mash and the ex thief Silt (short for Siltarien Sivertongue). They help her with a roadblock in the form of a tree that has fallen down. In the next village they come across an (apprentice) baker named Kina. She also decides to travel along. That’s all I can really tell without spoiling too much. This is probably the first cozy fantasy book I ever read. It’s definitely very cozy. At the same time it’s also very funny and surprisingly has a lot to say on certein topics. Definitely food for thought.
