Strong Women in WWII

Annemieke de Jong 10 augustus 2025
The Secret Librarian is written by author Soraya Lane. This author from New Zealand is well known for her Lost Daughters series. But for me actually, Soraya Lane was a new author, but this first time of reading and listening one of her stories, definitely makes me long for more.

The Secret Librarian is a book about two different strong woman in World War 2.

Avery is about to get married, when she gets an offer to go to Lisbon, Portugal to work undercover and collect film about the war.

In Lisbon she meets Camille. A French woman, but the big question is van she be trusted? Especially since she is having a Nazi boyfriend.

When they get to know each other it's pretty clear that nothing really is what it seems... Camille her past and the things she do at the moment, show there is a whole other side to this story.

This world war 2 story shows that there where a lot of brave people during the World War, that experienced the war and tried to help Jews, all in their own ways.

The narrator of the Secret Librarian tells the story in an incredible way! It makes you - as reader/ listener - want to continue in joining this incredible adventure! It's the perfect combination with an incredible well written story!

This book is a must read for everyone who loves World War 2 books!
