Pineapple street
In Jenny Jackson's Pineapple Street, the wealthy Stocktons have enjoyed all the privileges of capitalist success for generations.
Now a family schism threatens as their three children, who will inherit all that money, struggle with what the value of money really is.
Darley's financial security crumbles when her husband becomes involved in a scandal and loses his job, Georgiana discovers that her coworker/lover is still in love with his wife, and outsider Sasha struggles with the coercive family traditions and social conventions of the elite. The carefully guarded facade of the Stockton family is about to crack…
The first half felt slow and rather dull, but I plodded on. The story got better and even revealed some interesting things about rich people.
I couldn't relate to some of the characters in this book. The only one I really like is Sasha, afterwards I found Georgiana very spoiled and annoying in the beginning, eventually she struggled with herself and found herself again and she also has a place in my heart.
The book was quite long winded for me at times and I lost interest but because I kept reading I still enjoyed it.
This book showed that even if you have so much money, it will not make you happy. It was also very nice to read a story about a super rich family and what goes on in it.
If this interests you, I definitely recommend this book.
Thank you so much @ilonaslevenbijls & @lsamsterdam for letting me join the very fun and chaotic buddyread. I have a very nice experience with it.
