Unstoppable pageturner
Third year Ph.D candidate Olive Smith believes in science, not in something unpredictable as love. But her best friend does and to help her, she decides she will kiss the first man she walks into. So she kisses Adam Carlsen, young professor and biggest lab tiran of the campus. Soon Olives scientific career is getting in jeopardy and she realises that analysing her own heart is even more difficult that a hypothetical love.
After finishing the book this morning, I needed some time before I could calmly write what I thought about the story. It took me a long time to buy the book, as every time I picked it up I got the feeling it wasn't a book I would enjoy. The science part attracted me, but not that this book was a hype, TikTok sensation, romantic..... But once I started it, I couldn't read it fast enough and let all my other books be on hold. Just four pages I had read and I was already sitting with a big grin and a pure, loving, joyful feeling. I advise not to read the book in public places if you laugh out loud, grin and look like you will eat the book.
The story itself sounds okay if I think about it on its own, in a theoretical way. But what for me made this story so good is how the characters are, what they say and how the body language was described. And I love that it was set in a scientific environment, written by someone who knows all about it. Also, how can you not enjoy it when two people are so different from each other, one keeps everything inside himself but it makes him sound even more fascinating???
