Spot-on realistic fun story

Icegini 30 juni 2025
Oh this was good.... You want a story which makes you forget the pizza in the oven or that it is time to got o bed? This might be the book for you! And while I was all smiles from the first pages I read, you only need to wait about eighty pages for a moment of "what???" silence.
It reads easy, whatever is happening! But I also wanted to read non-stop.

The story of Dani coming to Amsterdam,
it feels real and I can totally imagine the first week going the way that it did, all the details were spot on! Even the finding out of the omafiets and the bakfiets with kids in front.
The no floor thing in apartments, tiny sinks ...yes, if you were wondering how fiction this book gets. This is real Dutch life.

But also looking for that one thing that is yours to be talented in and not finding it... To feel that you know who you are. And I know from experience that it is sometimes not something you find where you grew up, where your family and friends are.

What happens in Amsterdam is a story you can talk about non-stop but in the end it is a beautiful written story about Dani, her life which seems good but she isn't herself in a good spot. Making that one big step maybe doesn't resolve everything but gives her a chance for a new start with everything that will hit her, but her way. And you have to read it yourself to experience it all like Rachel Solomon wrote it. I didn't know her stories, but my first one was soooo good!!!!!

I also loved the feeling of the paperback pages, they feel so nice.
