ARC review
Synopsys:
Without giving away too much... Skjall is the last standing god of the Craj - a type of shape shifters - in a world where also humans, witches and mages roam the earth. But he promised to keep everyone safe by not using his godly powers. After 50 years of laying low, the shit hits the fan when two Kings want to be the biggest (men... ). Of course there are companions along the route to restoring peace and balance (insert romance and enemies becoming friends).
.
.
My reading experience:
You jump in and the action almost never stops. It's like getting on a train that even at the destination seems to go on... I suspect there will be a sequel with that epilogue!
Despite being written in an easy to follow language, I missed some descriptions of the characters. I only learned the colour and style of hair of Skjall and Avix, for example. It was harder to fill in the gaps (I see it all playing out in my head, when I read. Do you?).
When you buy this book, it has a map, which I didn't have in de digital ARC: it would have helped me getting a grasp on the lay out of the world Sandy created faster. The worldbuilding is good and never feels like too much. The action packed writing style doesn't permit it.
The colourful ways the characters curse made me laugh. The romance was cute and the tension present enough.

.
I enjoyed this book as the promis, progress and delivery . If you are a fan of no spice, epic fantasy adventures, it is defenitely a nice story to read. (I have little knowledge of nordic mythology, so I haven't elaborated on that. Apparently Sandy does it well )
