Mistborn - the final Empire
I started this series as I was watching @brandsanderson 's lectures on YT and he refers to the series at several points. So I figured I should read it first and then continue the lectures (highly recommend them btw if you love writing, doesn't have to be fantasy!).

Synopsys (partly ): In a dark world of fire spitting mountains, there's an enslaved civilisation of Skaa, living in misery and fear. The nobility of the Final Empire are using the Skaa as beasts or tools to support their lavish lifestyle. But even they live in fear of the Lord Ruler, a godlike creature that has vanquished the Deepness and 'saved' them all. But there's a rebelion brewing...

Oh my word, this book is so amazing! The world building is deep but effective and it doesn't feel like an info dump. The magic is so cool! And after reading I 'm still wondering about how it will evolve further. The characters are deeply developed: I felt swept off my feet (Elend, I think I love you!), rebelious (Kelsier, I blame you!) and brave (Vin, you badass!).
The storyline keeps you hanging on and makes you wonder how things are going to play out. I admit I slept very little the past few days.

So glad there are more books in this series because this book gripped me. Almost... almost wished to be a Skaa. That Snapped. And can BURN to save the world...
