Just didn't feel the expected emotions

Okay, hear me out. Reminders of Him is not a crappy read, by all means.

But for me, it just didn't make it through to the best reads...

It was a good story of a woman, Kenna Rowan, who has been dealing with so many bad hands, and now she's trying to make ends meet while completely broke. In the meantime, she's trying to pick up the pieces of her broken life and tries to get re- united with her four-year-old daughter, Diem. Who lives with her grandparents, and they don't want to have anything to do with Kenna whatsoever!
Then there is Ledger Ward. He is currently her only way to get into contact with her daughter, but it's complicated. No one can know that they draw closer together slowly. It would be risky, Ledger could lose the trust of Diem's grandparents and Kenna the possibility to ever get to know her daughter.

With this kind of story, there's supposed to be tears cried throughout reading the book. But I got none.
And for that, I gave it 3 stars. I need to feel it, to embrace the story, but just didn't.
