Lezersrecensie
A fun lighthearted romance!
In this book we follow Athalia, who fake dates with Dylan. Dylan is Athalia's tutor and also the biggest enemy of her twin brother.
I quite liked the beginning of the book. The academic vibes, and the rivalry between Athalia's brother and Dylan was quite interesting. But I do have to say I didn't really understand the hate between Dylan and Athalia's twin brother. Also the reason for the fake dating could have been better for me.
I quite liked the first half of the book. The writing style was nice and fast-paced. I liked the academic vibes. I wouldn’t necessarily call this a 'sports romance' though, because that wasn't really big in the book in my opinion.
At around 50% I got a bit stuck. They were kind of happy together, and I was just waiting for the third act breakup. We did get some cute thanksgiving scènes, where Dylan and Athalia bonded a bit more. So that was nice for their romantic chemistry and it suprised me in a good way.
Because this was originally a Harry Potter fanfiction, I felt like sometimes the reader was just 'supposed' to know things. Things that weren’t clearly explained (until later in the book) but the reader should have known. For example, why their parents were famous. It felt like you were expected to know things sometimes.
Overall, this was a cute and fast-paced romance book. I liked the academic part of it, and I liked how they were kind of 'irritating' Athalia's brother. The ending was also nice. What could have been better for me was if the stakes (regarding fake dating) would be higher/different. Also maybe a dual POV would have elevated the story.
