Ring, Ring, how are you doing?

Detectives Robert Hunter and Carlos Garcia of the LAPD special section, the UVC unit, are back in their eight crime novel and this time it's not safe to pick up the phone anymore!
When Robert gets a call about a new murder victim him and his partner Garcia get to the crime scene and are appalled by what they see. The victim, a young woman called Karen Ward, was brutally murdered with shards of a mirror. But what is most disturbing is that her best friend, Tanya Kaitlin, had to witness it and is partly responsible for this murder. The killer video called Tanya and asked her two questions she had to answer right or there would be harsh consequences for her friend.
Not long after a second victim is found and this time the killer contacted the victim's husband. Again, the husband fails in answering both questions right and ends up feeling responsible for the death of his wife. But the killer made a big mistake by contacting this man!
Hunter and Garcia are now tasked with finding this vicious killer before he even makes another call to someone, before he can ask even more questions. But to stop this murderer, they'll need to find out how he picks his victims and why he kills them the way he does. Another hunt for both detectives has begun!
On the cover of this book is a sticker that says 'As addictive as a TV Box-set' which isn't very far from the truth, to be honest. (It begs the question whether they'll ever make an adaptation of the novels and who should play Hunter and Garcia) As with his previous novels, Carter has a way of writing short chapters, pacing the story perfectly and leaving enough cliffhangers at each chapter so you'll continue reading, even through the night not being able to put the book down. Also Chris knows how to describe a kill (method) like no other. I guess his past working on a criminal psychology team for a district attorney and interviewing many serial killers and homicidal killers pays off in his books. Robert Hunter's insomnia in the novels is actually Chris' insomnia he integrated in the novels.
The Caller is brutal and adds a new vicious murderer to an already famous gallery of killers Robert Hunter has chased. And there's more to come!
