Timeless story and excellent read

Novel that shows the American dream-way of life at the start of the roaring twenties, just after the Great War. The characters are glad they survived and now live the dream, however terrible that may unfold. The protagonist/ storyteller has part in the events, but can keep his distance and is able to make remarks such as: “whenever you feel like criticizing anyone, just remember that all the people in this world haven’t had the advantages that you’ve had”. That’s the start at page 1. And however the story is over a century old, it is timeless and still an excellent read. Multiple storylines keep the interest alive and it is superbly written. A somewhat difficult read at the beginning, but persist and you will be rewarded.
