Haunting

Marco8910 06 januari 2026
Compact written story about the horrific asylums run by the Catholic church in Ireland where “fallen women” were to be reformed. Haunting. Dreadful. Criminal. Mind you: this is not that long ago, the book is situated in the eighties of the last century. The proganist is an outsider who makes the discovery and decides to do something good, no mind the consequences. Keegan also brings back to memory some good things from my own youth, like the Live Aid concerts and Jigsaws with 500 pieces. Because she chooses an outsider who struggles with his consience to tell this tale, the gruesome details are not spelled out, but nonetheless hit you right in the face. Outstanding piece of work.
