Slow burn is worth the wait
Okay, so I started this book, but hadn't read part 1 completely. I already started this book and took my time. That was absolutely not because of the story, I read it calmly and sometimes had to recover from everything Kara experiences. A resilient main character that takes you along and inspires you to be strong yourself. For me it felt like it was meant to be, reading this book while also experiencing some challenges and setbacks.
“That was all I could do now, hope, pray, cling tot he fragile threads of connection I had left.”
The story starts with an explanation about souls choosing a life, challenges they get, but once born, the person knows nothing about it. Every soul has an angel who guides the soul, but is not allowed to interfere with the chosen path of the soul. Damian is assigned Kara, a young woman who leads a heartbreaking life and Damian watches. He can communicate with her through her dreams, but Kara notices his presence and does not let her dream steer, she is at the helm…
Kara continues to absorb pain and sorrow in real life, until Damian can no longer watch. A forbidden love. A slow burn that is oh so worth it.
“Because even angels needed someone to catch them when they fell.”
Daria's writing style is descriptive and pleasant, with an eye for detail, but no long-winded descriptions. She takes you along in the world she has created.
