A nice feelgood book, but a bit long-winded

I'm not so much into feelgood, but sometimes a book keeps coming back to you so that you get curious. Enemies to lovers is a favourite trope of mine, so I went for it. Unfortunately, the enemy phase lasted a bit too short for me. I had also hoped for a bit more of a slow burn; now they were past the last base before I felt any chemistry at all. I didn't exactly fall in love with the characters either; it took me half the book to actually care about them so that I was finally invested in their love story. Eventually, I did like them as a couple and felt for them when they went through a rough time. Still, I found the story a bit drawn out towards the end – which may also be because I have zero interest in politics and the outcome of the presidential election seemed to take forever. I have to admit that I skimmed through the last chapter. All in all, this was an enjoyable feelgood, although it did take some time to care about the characters and some parts – especially towards the end – were a bit long-winded.
