The story of Lily who survived the holocaust with her two sisters. Of course, there are kinds of similar stories but still every story is different.

In this case, Lily never spoke about her life in the camps to her children, only when her eldest daughter was in her late thirties, they took a trip to Auschwitz together and Lily, as per the request of her daughter, spoke about her experiences in this camp to the group they travelled with.

After the loss of her husband and her three children having their own families, she then started to speak in schools and at conferences about the holocaust.

But her story got more attention when her great grandson Dov, 16 at that time, being the eldest son of the eldest daughter of her second daughter, asking her questions and being very intrigued by the holocaust and his great grandmothers story. She showed him a banknote with a wish and a name on it.

Dov being young and of the modern age tells his grandmother that within 24hours he should have an answer via social media. He posts the banknote on Twitter and when he checks his phone a couple of hours later his twitter has exploded, his tweet being retweeted and he receives lots of private messages. All this within the cause of 8 hours.

Dov and Lily have various zoom meetings with people they came to know after the tweet Dov put out. Together they can now put dates to some events Lily remembers but does not recall the exact date.
Together they have written this book and Lily kept her promise she made to herself: “..as long as I am here, I will tell my story for the future generations.”

This being a non-fiction book aka a true story, it however reads as a novel. Both Lily and Dov have read sections of the book, Dov more than Lily, Lily’s story is very pleasantly narrated by Anna Cordell.
