Een van de beste boeken die ik heb gelezen!

Curse of the Sun and Stars by Zara Storm is the story of Ana, who lives like a prisoner in a manor with guards all around her and her nurse/friend, to “protect her”. Against what or whom, is not known to her. When someone attacks her and she defends herself, things spin out of her control. In the meantime, there is Leon, who is sent on a diplomatic mission to the King and Queen of the Human realm, and when he gets framed for something, their lives meet and both find out more who Ana really is.

This book is one of the best romantasy novels I have read. It has become one of my favourite reads of 2025. I was captivated from the very first and I had a really hard time putting the book down. There is so much going on: there is a lot of mystery, drama and magic. The world-building is amazing, as is the magic system. And the main characters, as a lot of the side ones too, come across so well. Both Ana and Leon are fantastic characters and you can feel for both of them. Their banter, interactions and growing relationship is great. As we have a dual POV, one of my favourite writing styles, we learn more about them and their feelings. Leon is the tough stoic warrior, but he has also his own agenda, and Ana is formidable. She has lived a sheltered life, but is fierce and lets no one tell her what to do, and that is also why Leon sometimes wants to lock her up and throw away the key. Throughout the novel there are many twists and turns and the ending, well, let’s say that I want to read the sequel now!

Zara Storm has written a beautiful fantasy novel, with a flowing and fast paced writing style, a great plot and story-line, fantastic world-building, and two main characters who just leap off the pages. If you want to read a great fantasy novel, this is the one you need to read.
