An enjoyable ride

Janine 29 april 2025
Roping Wild Dreams is a cowboy romance that follows Candice, a dedicated woman running her family’s rescue ranch. After facing significant personal loss, she’s determined to keep the ranch afloat, no matter what. Enter Nathan, a professional cowboy known for his reining skills, who ends up at the ranch to complete his community service after a bar fight. But what happens when enemies are forced to work together?

Guys, I know I'm late to the party, but this was my very first cowboy romance and it turned out to be an enjoyable ride!

One of the things I appreciated most about this story was the attention given to the horses, they’re such an essential part of ranch life. As a former horse girl myself, this book brought back a wave of childhood nostalgia.

The ranch setting was beautifully described. I could almost feel the dust, hear the soft nickers of the horses, and see the wide-open skies. It provided a cozy backdrop that pulled me right into the story.

The supporting characters were also a highlight. They were fun, added depth to the story, and I’d love to read more about them in future books. That said, I would’ve liked to see more of the friendship between Beau and Nathan. They’re supposed to be best friends, but their connection wasn’t really present.

As for the romance between Candice and Nathan: while I love a good enemies-to-lovers trope, their relationship felt a bit rushed. They spend the first part at each other’s throats, then make a deal to help one another and suddenly they’re head over heels. But of course, they don’t communicate this to each other. I think the story could have benefited from a slower, more believable build-up.

The ‘sexy lessons’ also came a bit out of nowhere. They felt out of character for Candice, and the dirty talk felt a bit awkward. And then there’s the ending, which was a little too much, too fast. Suddenly, they’re each other’s entire world, willing to drop everything for love. I get the appeal of a big, dramatic finale, but this felt a bit over the top.

That being said, I still enjoyed the story overall. The horses, the ranch setting, and the supporting cast really made it worthwhile. I’ll definitely continue the series when the next book is released!

Big thanks to Love Notes PR and Lucy Harper for sending me the ARC in exchange for an honest review!
