Rating: 4/5 stars

Six outcasts are determined to undertake a nearly impossible mission. Kaz Brekker, the criminal mastermind and leader of the party, navigates the group through various dangerous situations while keeping the reader on the edge of their seat. Does the gang succeed in performing the heist? Or will the groupmembers turn on each other?

Find out how six completely different people, each with their own unique past, manage to form a team that's always one step ahead of their enemies (or not).

This duology can be read without having read Shadow and Bone priorly. However, I do think I'll read the trilogy before finishing this duology since I'd like to know more about the Grisha and the prior events in general.

Overall, this book is definitely up your alley if you're looking for:

- A fast-paced story about the ins and outs of heist
- The gores and grimes of battle
- Hints of slow-burning romance along the way leaving you craving for more
- Characters with an intricate past and personal growth
