Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. But Katniss has been close to death before - and survival, for her, is second nature.
I finally got around to reading the first part of this best selling series. It was better than I expected, and I actually enjoyed the story. My reading sessions got longer and longer as I progressed, because I really wanted to know what was going to happen next. I liked that the main character was quite complex in her thoughts and motives, although some of the other characters were rather one-dimensional. Not a lot of deeper level ideas in it, but entertaining and captivating. Made me curious about the movie as well.
