Feelgood romance about sailing, chance and finding love when you least expect it
3.75☆
"Feeling is a sound that cannot be ignored. And usually, the most beautiful music comes from it."
I fell in love with Saskia's writing style while reading the Foodtruck series, so I couldn't wait to read this summer romance - and it delivered. If you're looking for a romance about sailing, change, and finding love when you least expect it, then look no further!
This book starts with an important reminder: "If you are afraid of falling, you will never try to run." As an anxiety girlie, I really felt this, and I love how relatable this quote was for the story. As a newly divorced teacher, Abby decides to sail on her own for the first time, and then she meets Daniel: a famous writer and single dad who lost his wife two years ago to cancer. It wasn't precisely a meet-cute when they met. As an overly protective father, Daniel did something very reckless, and Abby was mad at him at first. But soon, they start to like each other and the chemistry flies off the pages. Floortje, Daniel's daughter, is such a sweetheart, and I loved how she liked Abby right away. I was rooting for Abby and Daniel to get a relationship the entire time, and I was so mad when Marco was trying to win Abby back. I was like: please Abby, don't give that jerk another chance.
I loved the fact that this book has a dual POV, so you get to know Abby and Daniel and their struggles really well. While Abby feels insecure after her divorce, Daniel struggles with alcoholism as a way to deal with his grief. I like how the author handles these serious topics while keeping the story lighthearted. Also, I loved the descriptions of sailing - it reminded me of summer days spent on my grandparents' boat with my family.

- Teacher x Famous writer
- Sweet dog involved (named after David Bowie)
- Set in Friesland, The Netherlands
- Single dad
- Strangers to lovers
- Dual POV
- Just divorced
- Summer feelgood romance
