One of Us is Lying and One of Us is Next by Karen M. McManus were on my TBR for about a year. After Netflix started streaming One of Us is Lying I figured this would be the best time to start reading this series and I’m happy I did. A must read for fans of A Good Girls Guide to Murder, Pretty Little Liars and Gossip Girl.
“But you can’t change the past, you know? All you can do is try harder next time. So don’t give up on yourself just yet”.’
A year has passed since Simon’s tragic death and secrets still aren’t safe at Bayview High. When a school-wide text message invites the entire student body to play Truth or Dare everyone is nervous about being chosen to play next. When the truths end up destroying friendships and family ties all students agree: “Always take the dare”.
One of Us is Next was so addictive. I read it in one sitting. I absolutely loved Maeve and Knox. Their characters were so precious and genuine. I loved them even more than the characters of One of Us is Lying. Although I must admit I was very happy to see that the Bayview Four were supporting characters in One of Us is Next and I would have been sad if I didn’t find out what happened to Bronwyn, Cooper, Addy and Nate after One of Us is Lying. One character I struggled with a bit more was Phoebe. To me, the game started a bit too soon. I would have liked to have been able to read more from Phoebe’s POV before the drama kicked in. That way I think I could have related more to her character. All with all, One of Us is Next was a very enjoyable read. Even though most parts of the plot were predictable I definitely did not see the plot twist at the end coming. SHOCKED. I cannot wait for One of Us is Back!
