Fantastisch!

Hilma Werff 17 april 2024
Echo of Wings by Sophia St. Germain has completely blown me away by the fantastic story about Lillian, who after a tragic event enters the King’s Guard Trials. The cover drew me in, and right after that, the plot.

The writing is phenomenal, fast paced and flowing. The worldbuilding is amazing, unique and so very well described! I had a hard time putting the book down. It did not want to end it, but at the same time I wanted to go on reading. Lillian is a fantastic character, you can totally relate to her. She can take care of herself, can fight, which comes in handy when the trials are brutal. But there is also a mystery surrounding her.

Commander, Atlas, who is one of the commanders overseeing the trials, is a grumpy one, but at the same time he is somewhat protective of Lillian. As the story progresses we get to learn more about him and when we, the readers, find out who he really is? That was a complete surprise that came out of nowhere.
I loved the interaction between Atlas and Lillian. They have an enemies to lovers vibe and that made the story so more interesting and breathtaking.

Near the end there is this huge and massive plot twist, which makes me really long for the sequel.

Echo of Wings is a beautifully written novel, with a great storyline and plot, with two main characters who just leap off the pages, a story with twists and turns.

Highly recommended!
