Een fantastisch eerste deel

Magic and Goldfire by Clare Rushing is the first book in The Middenvale Saga. The story got me hooked from page one. The writing style was such that I could not stop reading. It is fast paced, flowing, and mesmerizing.

The characters just leap off the pages. There are two female main characters, and that was kind of refreshing. Both are strong, but totally different. Venussa is a female knight, fierce, and is the confidante of a king, while Silver is a gifted healer, but many are afraid of her looks, so she has not a lot of friends, and she desperately wants to escape.
The worldbuilding and magic system is just fantastic. There is a lot of suspense, magic and mythology, friendship and betrayal, along with several plottwists I did not see coming, especially at the end of the book.

All in all, I loved this book, and it is a book I can highly recommend.
