Is it better to have a more natural system or to have sea eagles?
In round about 1990 I was walking along the coast of Southern Scotland and a Sea Eagle flew past. It was magnificent and I will never forget it. A few years later I live in Illinois and there saw Bald Eagles from time to time, alongside the river, and they even visited my garden from time to time. Of course, I knew they are both eagles, but it was only on reading this book that I learned that they are closely related species.
I enjoyed the book, and it was interesting to read. However, the structure was rather chaotic in parts, dashing from place to place from one side of the world to the other for yet another observation of a sea eagle.
The book is much broader than just about that one species. Especially in the last third, there is a log of (interesting) discussion about nature management policy. Essentially, the sea eagles have increased in numbers in recent years because species rich grassland has been transformed to grass monocultures which are loved by geese. And the eagles eat the geese. So, is it better to have a more natural system or to have sea eagles?
