"This is a throne of the night, of the misfits and the lost. This is the throne for all those who had to endure the darkness to find the stars"

I read the last 200 pages of this book like my life depended on it, because I just had to know if I was going to get the happy ending I was hoping for. And for a moment there, I was afraid Ms Ryan was going to let me down. I was reading in my garden and scared by neighbours quite a bit when I got to the part with Queen Mab. Of course my fears were completely uncalled for because Ms Ryan isn't that cruel. I'm happy to say I was able to close this book with a smile on my face.

After reading both books, I get why people are comparing this to ACOTAR:
(1) We have our main character who is first drawn to a man who protects her because that's what she needs at the time, but pulls away from him as the story continues, because the character develops and she realises that's just not what she really needs.
(2) She is willing to sacrifice herself and her own happiness for others
(3) The blond VS dark MMCs
...

However, I do believe this series develops these themes in a different way. I get that it reminds some people of ACOTAR but I never once thought of another book while reading this series. This story and the world-building has unique elements and stands completely alone, imo.
Brie, Bash, Finn, Pretha, Misha, Kane, Jalek and honestly all of them hold my heart. There wasn't a single character I disliked (if I wasn't supposed to, because f--- you, Queen Arya). I liked this book tremendously and loved seeing the relationships between them develop from distrust to hesitant friendships, to sometimes more.

I don't regret that this is a duology instead of a longer series, but I do regret that we don't get a sneakpeek into their lives after, just because I can't get enough of their happy moments.
