What a ride!

Priscilla 21 mei 2025
Wow, what a ride! The Caller is the eighth installment in the Robert Hunter series, and once again, Chris Carter absolutely delivers. From the very first page, you’re thrown into a twisted and brilliantly constructed nightmare. A young woman is brutally attacked live on her own phone – while her friend watches helplessly via video call. Creepy? Definitely. Impossible to put down? Without a doubt.

As we’ve come to expect from Carter, the serial killer in this one is beyond twisted. Seriously, you start wondering how he even comes up with this stuff – but at the same time, it’s so well thought-out psychologically that you just get pulled in. The gruesome details are not spared (love that!), yet there’s still plenty of depth, both in the story and in the characters.

What really makes this book stand out is the fact that one of the victims decides not to go down without a fight – taking matters into their own hands. That added twist brings a whole new level of tension to the story.

As always, Carter’s writing is fast-paced and gripping, with cliffhangers that keep you telling yourself “just one more chapter” – until suddenly it’s 2 a.m. and you’re still reading.

In short: The Caller is another thriller straight to my heart. Intense, gruesome, psychologically sharp, and featuring a killer that sends shivers down your spine. A must-read for anyone who loves their thrillers hard-hitting and unforgettable!
