Overall a great book, but not worth the hype

I liked this book, but I was also a bit disappointed. This book has been hyped up so much, I was expecting to absolutely love it and also be emotionally destroyed, since a lot of people had said that would happen. I only cried once, when Connor died, even though I usually cry very easily while reading books. That's not to say it wasn't a good book: like I said, I did really like it. I did find Monique's parts quite annoying; all they managed to do for me was pull me out of Evelyn's story. Those parts also felt a lot like infodumping at the beginning, but thankfully that got better throughout the book. But still Monique's parts just didn't add anything to the book in my opinion. The dramatic reveal for why Evelyn chose Monique also wasn't that big of a plot twist. I'm kind of sad this book is being hyped up so much, because it just made me disappointed. I think I would have enjoyed the book more if it hadn't been so hyped up, because then I wouldn't have been this disappointed. Overall a great book, but not worth the hype.
