When Gods Fall by S.E. Bouvier is the first book in an epic fantasy series. It’s the story of two devoted sisters, who get separated after being captured and who are trying to get back together.

From the very first I was hooked. The writing style is such that I kept on reading, it’s fast paced, flowing and easy to read, with lots of plottwists. We have a dual POV from both sisters and both are strong in their own way and very likable. You can relate to both of them. As each has her own story, we get to know them more. The story of Katell is dark, with cruelty and she has to survive each day, no matter what. Her younger sister Aelana has a mysterious protector, a guy with a hidden past, and her story is more about discovery, although there is also a lot of danger.
The worldbuilding is fantastic, although sometimes a bit violent, really vivid and you can see the mythology woven into the story, which I liked very much.

When Gods Fall has all the tropes you need in a mesmering fantasy book: enemies to lovers, fierce characters, morally grey men, a mysterious broody MMC, a great plot and storyline with touches of mythology. Highly recommended, I enjoyed reading it a lot and can’t wait to read the sequel.
