Such a fun experience

In the future, the world is falling apart due to climate change, dangerous technology, and bad decisions. Hive tells the intertwined stories of Isabel, Diego, and Matthew as they each try to protect the world.

I have to admit, the beginning was a bit challenging for me. The storyline, especially the time travel aspect, was hard to follow at first, maybe because I haven’t read the author’s previous books (though this series can be read independently). Thankfully, as the story progressed, things started to fall into place.

One of the things I really enjoyed was the use of multiple POVs. Experiencing the story through Isabel, Diego, and Matthew made it easier to connect with each character. The writing style was also a strong point: clear, emotional, and engaging.

The relationships were definitely one of the highlights for me. I loved the connection between Matthew and his niece, and Cassie totally stole the spotlight at the end. The dynamic between Diego and Isabel was also touching, especially during their time together in the cabin.

Although the first half of the book was a bit slow-paced, I didn’t mind too much. The last few chapters really picked up speed with lots of action and tension, which made for a strong finish.

The themes in Hive are relevant: AI, environmental collapse, corruption. It mirrors a lot of what’s happening in our world today. I thought Isabel’s robot bees were such a clever invention, until, of course, someone had to turn them into murderbots.

All in all, I really enjoyed this book! Hive is a great start to the series, and I’m curious to see how things unfold. Will Diego manage to save the world? And what will it cost him? I can’t wait to find out.
