a pleasant surprise
I did not expect to like this story as much as I did.
Personally I love fantasy heavy stories, which I did not think this book would be. Then I started reading it and it looked like my predictions we're about right. I enjoyed getting to know the main character, Karou, living a relatively quiet life as an art student, but with a little magical touch to it. When I got half way through, the whole vibe of the story changed. You get introduced to more of the magic, but also it became more of a love story which at some point wasn't able to keep me fully interested.
I thought the flashback was a really great way of telling the story of Karou's life and I will definitely pick up the next book sometime soon.
