intriguing from the first chapter

So you really get thrown into the middle of this story. I even thought at the beginning that I started the series with the wrong book, so that was kind of confusing. I did enjoy the different pov's and thought that they were nicely intertwined.
After the confusing start, i found that the story really picked up and I couldn't put the book down. The romance felt very natural and I loved how the interactions between Merik and Safi made Safi reevaluate herself and the world.
The magic system is interesting, but I would have liked to see it better described somewhere at the beginning of the story. I was very satisfied with the ending and think that the rest of the series will definitely be worth the read.
