Een Snow White retelling
When I started reading A Crown of Poison and Mirrors, a retelling of Snow White, by Kelsey Ortiz, I was a little bit confused. It seemed like I fell right into the story, that I missed something. But I was curious, so I read on and some pages later there was this flashback and the story began for real.
The writing style was nice, it is an easy and fast paced read and you get sucked into the story, because a lot happens and thanks to the flashbacks it keeps you interested. I found it hard to see any Snow White references in this book, though, so I would say this is not a real retelling, but a good story about secrets and revenge. I would have loved the book more if it was really a fairytale retelling. I loved the worldbuiling, the storyline and the development of the characters.
This was a surprising book to read, though sometimes it was a bit hard to follow the storyline. All in all, I enjoyed reading it.
