Geweldige hockey romance met een paranormal twist
Last Shot by Willa Wren is a hockey romance mixed with a paranormal twist. When ice hockey star Luka has to put up his grade in order to keep playing ice hockey, his sister’s best friend Lilly agrees to be his tutor. But Lilly has a great secret: from an early age she has a premonition about her death and each time she saw beautiful eyes which calmed her. And guess what eyes Luka has?
I have read many hockey romances and this book is a great and unique plot and story-line. I loved it and could not stop reading. From the very first I was totally hooked. Lilly is a great character: she is a bit nerdy, shy. She loves to study and when nervous she talks about random facts, which is kind of endearing. She does not know what to think and do when she meets Luka for the first time. He is captivated by her, and he feels something pulling him in her direction. Luka is wonderful: he is a tough ice hockey player, but also very loyal to his sisters and friends. When Lilly’s dream progresses, she finds out there is more to it from her Grandmother May and that woman is just wonderful. We all need someone like her. She accepts Lilly who she is and totally loves her. The growing relationship between Lilly and Luka is just fantastic and I was rooting for them.
The side characters come across really well too. I loved best friend Stella and some of the teammates of Luka are great. As the story progresses, we find out more about the dream and what it means. Together with Luka Lilly searches for something to end it all.
The writing style is fast paced and flowing and I had a really hard time putting the book down. The story is captivating, it is filled with humour, romance, drama, mystery and fantastic characters. There are several twists and turns which made it all the more engaging. I loved this book and I can’t believe I waited this long to read it.
As the story ended, we get a glimpse in the next book in this series and I want to read that book now! I cannot believe this is a debut novel and I cannot wait to read all Willa Wren’s books.
If you love hockey romances, you really need to read this book, but you must read this book because of the plot. It is unlike any other hockey romance story I have read.
Highly recommended!
