“Sometimes Fate doesn’t tell you, no. Sometimes Fate simply tells you, wait.”

Forcing Fate van M.A. Frick has an interesting cover, a sword, and the blue color I like a lot as well. It's a book with a lot of pages. It’s the story of Avyanna, who dreams of becoming a Dragon Rider. But as things don't go as planned, she ends up somewhere she never thought of, alongside a famous and very grumpy general, but maybe all of that was fate.

Avyanna is a lovely character, a bit of a loner, she studies hard and has no friends. She knows what she wants, but in that I find she is a bit naive. Her interactions with people are a bit childish somehow, but then again she is only seventeen. I love that she works hard for what she wants. The General is harsh, a warhero, and he's a lot older (although that is not really mentioned in the book). I find the building relationship between them not totally believable. That being said, the writing style is nice, the story flows and you see the world before your eyes. The dragons are a nice touch too. This is not just a story about dragons, but a story with layers. The proloque made me want to go on reading. The worldbuilding is nicely done, and the mythology why men and dragons bonded, made me think of Eragon (and Fourth Wing, though I have not read that book, yet).

Forcing Fate is a nicely written fantasy novel, with tension, drama, mystery and magic, a bit of humor and of course dragons, with an interesting MC, and reading this book is a lovely way to spend your time reading.
