Wat een fantastisch vervolg van een schitterende serie

In Siege of the Seven Sins by Emily Colin Eva and Ari are on the run. Meanwhile Eva has to accept who she is and what she can do, but at what costs?

This second book is a great sequel. I enjoyed the first book immensely and I could not wait to start Siege. From the very first I could not stop reading. I felt for Eva, because she knows she is different and wants to keep it a secret for Ari. You just feel her agony. Ari has left everything behind for her, and has not regretted it at all. Both would burn the world for eachother, but they also would lie to keep the other safe. This way there is a lot of tension, as you don’t really know if they would end up together. As the story progresses and we learn the history of the Commonwealth with the shapeshifters and their familiars, things get really exiting. As I read this book I was hoping Ari would be the one to keep Eva grounded. Near the end there is this plottwist I did not see coming. And the cliffhanger is such that I really can’t wait to start reading the next book.

Ari and Eva have a great chemistry, both are fierce and loyal. They are characters that just leap off the pages. Both are struggling with their world and building relationship and I was rooting for them. There are a lot of obstacles and I just loved how Emily Colin wrote their struggle. You could really feel all their emotions.
I love the dual POV and the writing style a lot. It is flowing, fast paced and some much happens that I kept turning the pages faster and faster. I could not put the book down. The worldbuilding is fantastic and I just loved the mythology of shapeshifters.

Emily Colin has done a fantastic job in creating this world and I love this series. It has everything you want in a fantasty novel: a great writing style, fantastic worldbuilding and mythology, a forbidden love, wonderful characters, suspense, plottwists, and it is filled with action. It is a book I can defenitely recommend and I can’t wait to read the third book.
